Garima's Path to Success

In 2022, I embarked on a career journey at Story House Early Learning (SHEL) as a Service Manager, leaving behind a larger organisation that couldn't provide the support I needed for professional growth. Seeking a workplace where career development and values were integral, I found my ideal fit at SHEL.

From the warm welcome on my first day, where open arms greeted me, to a hand-written card and a welcome call from the CEO, I knew I had made the right decision. The 130-licensed service, operating at full capacity with a complete staff, demanded all hands on deck. However, with a trusted Business Operations Manager by my side and unwavering support from the head office, the transition was seamless.

Within just over a year, an exciting opportunity emerged for a Business Operations Manager in my region. Thanks to the strong connections fostered with the executive leadership team and the company's commitment to values like connectedness, it was recognised that I was ready for this role. Regular check-ins with my manager eased my nerves, and stepping into the position was met with overwhelming support from colleagues.

Now in my role as Business Operations Manager, I am surrounded by a delightful portfolio of managers, and the collaborative spirit within the organisation is palpable. I eagerly anticipate supporting my team in reaching their full potential, grateful for the continuous support and opportunities that Story House Early Learning has provided on my professional journey.

Reflecting on my journey, there are profound aspects I wish I had known before my first day.

Firstly, I would have loved to anticipate that my daily environment would be drenched in love, laughter, and the delightful symphony of children's giggles. It's a continuous melody that resonates throughout the day, filling every corner with warmth.

Understanding that my role would involve not just managing but actively engaging with materials, ideas, and endless possibilities would have been a welcomed insight. The work is a constant play, where creativity knows no bounds.

Appreciating the small wonders of life is a lesson I've learned firsthand. From the simplest joys of a child's laughter to the curiosity in their eyes, there's an unparalleled beauty in these fleeting moments that I now hold close to my heart.

Resilience is not just a concept but a skill developed on the front lines of early childhood education. Each day presents its challenges, but overcoming them has become a testament to my own strength and adaptability.

Lastly, witnessing the growth, play, and accomplishment of each child, observing them reach their unique milestones, has brought a joy beyond words. It's a privilege to contribute to their journey and celebrate their successes, creating a profound sense of fulfillment.

Igeline's New Adventure

Before I embarked on my journey to Australia to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education and Care, I was deeply immersed in managing my family's business back home. Despite having all the material comforts and stability, I couldn't shake the feeling that something essential was missing from my life.

With a degree in Business under my belt, I eagerly applied my knowledge and skills to our family business. While the business flourished and expanded over the years, a sense of disillusionment began to creep in. What had once been a fulfilling endeavor gradually lost its allure, prompting me to question my path and aspirations.

As the pressure to fulfill my responsibilities mounted, I experienced several mental breakdowns, torn between the expectations placed upon me as my parents' daughter and my desire to carve out my own path and pursue my true passion.

The burden of familial obligations and the internal conflict between duty and personal fulfilment weighed heavily on my shoulders, prompting a re-evaluation of my goals and aspirations for the future.

Fast forward, an opportunity presented itself when a friend shared insights on obtaining a student visa.
Encouraged by her advice, I seized the chance without hesitation. Three months later, my visa was approved, and I can confidently say that it was the best decision I have ever made.

One of the greatest lessons this experience has taught me is that it is never too late to start a new.

Who's Moving House?

In October 2020, I embarked on a new chapter of my career journey as the 2IC at Oak on Jellicoe service in Toowoomba, joining the esteemed team at SHEL. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was greeted with warmth and enthusiasm, not only from the Service Manager and my fellow Story House-ers but also from the CEO themselves, who took the time to personally welcome me aboard.

Nestled within our service were vibrant families, uniquely loving children, and dedicated staff, creating an atmosphere brimming with energy and passion. As the 2IC, I found myself engaged in numerous interactions with both our Support Office team and the Executive Leadership Team, who consistently extended their support and guidance whenever needed.

One of the remarkable aspects of working at SHEL was the emphasis placed on continuous professional development. Opportunities abounded for all staff members to hone their skills and expertise during work hours, ensuring that we could deliver optimal outcomes for the children under our care.

After nearly three enriching years with SHEL, my family and I made the decision to relocate to Brisbane. Initially, I was apprehensive about parting ways with the SHEL community in Toowoomba, as there were no services available in my new location. However, my concerns were swiftly addressed when I reached out to my Service Manager and Business Operations Manager.

Their suggestion to connect with the COO at the Support Office in Brisbane proved to be a pivotal moment. Upon exploring available opportunities, I was thrilled to discover a vacancy for a Family Engagement Officer. With the unwavering support of my BOM, the COO, and the Family Engagement team, I was presented with the opportunity to transition into a new role within the Support Office.

Grateful for the chance to remain within the SHEL community, I embraced my new position as a Family Engagement Specialist with enthusiasm and dedication. It's been an incredible journey of growth and learning, and I am excited to continue making a positive impact within the organisation while furthering my skills and expertise in this new capacity.

From Passion to Leadership: Rachael’s Story

From Passion to Leadership: Rachael’s Story

Career growth is not just about moving forward, it is about stepping up with confidence, seizing opportunities, and finding the right support along the way. Rachael Willson’s Story House journey is a testament to what is possible when passion meets opportunity. From studying early childhood education at school to leading a service as a Service Manager, Rachael has embraced every challenge, and Story House has been there to back her at every step.

A Passion for Early Childhood Education

Rachael’s journey in early childhood education started in 2007 when she began studying for her Certificate III while still in school. Eager to build on her knowledge, she immediately pursued a Diploma and gained hands-on experience working in a childcare service. A love for travel then led her overseas, where she spent time as a private nanny in London.

“Even as a student, I knew this was the right path for me. I have always been passionate about creating positive early learning experiences for children, and that passion only grew stronger as I gained more experience.” Rachael.
Returning to Australia brought a new chapter when she discovered the Oak on Erin service, which was still under construction at the time. Excited by what Story House had to offer, she joined as a Lead Educator and quickly found herself stepping into new roles, including Educational Leader and 2IC. These opportunities were made possible through the support and guidance of her Business Operations Manager, who encouraged her to take on leadership responsibilities and expand her skills.

Building Leadership Skills and Growing with Story House

Rachael’s leadership journey at Story House has been one of growth, opportunity, and strong support. After developing her leadership skills at Oak on Erin, she relocated to Rangeville, where she played a key role in supporting a new Service Manager, growing the team, and increasing occupancy. Her dedication and commitment to leadership were recognised when her Business Operations Manager offered her the Service Manager role at Oak on Jellicoe. It was the perfect next step, marking a proud moment in her career.

She had worked hard to build her leadership skills, participating in the Inspiring Leaders Program and always putting her hand up for extra tasks. Seeing that effort pay off made the transition even more rewarding. Sharing the news with family and friends was a moment of celebration, marked by a well-earned dinner. The move into the new role felt natural, supported by colleagues, mentors, and the wider Story House community.

The Power of Support and Connection

Being part of a network of four services in Toowoomba has been invaluable to Rachael’s development. She has benefited from mentorship, leadership meetings, and a strong support system that encouraged her to step into management with confidence.

“As a 2IC, my managers often included me in Service Manager meetings, and my Business Operations Manager was always available whenever I needed guidance. That level of connection made a huge difference in my development.”

The Inspiring Leaders Program further strengthened her skills, providing structured training aligned with Story House’s skills framework, ensuring she was prepared for the transition to management. Stepping into the Service Manager role has been an exciting experience for Rachael. Thanks to the training and guidance she has received along the way, she has been well-prepared for the challenges that come with the role.

For those looking to develop their careers, Rachael’s advice is simple: be proactive. She encourages others to take charge of their own growth, have open conversations with their managers, and explore the many learning and development opportunities available at Story House.

If Rachael Had a Superpower

If Rachael could have any superpower, she would choose the ability to never doubt herself. She would make decisions fearlessly, embrace opportunities without hesitation, and have complete confidence in her potential. Her journey at Story House has already helped her achieve that in many ways. What once seemed like an unlikely career path has now become something she cannot imagine leaving.

Are you ready to take the next step in your Story House journey? Explore internal opportunities and see where your path could lead.

From Educational Leader to Service Manager: Amanda Pryor

From Educational Leader to Service Manager: Amanda Pryor’s Story House Journey

At Story House, career growth is not just about job titles. It is about embracing new challenges, expanding skills, and finding opportunities that bring out the best in you. Amanda Pryor’s journey is the perfect example of how saying yes to new experiences can lead to an exciting and fulfilling career. From Educational Leader to Service Manager, Amanda shares how Story House supported her every step of the way.

The Path to Becoming a Service Manager

Amanda’s journey with Story House began in January 2023 as an Educational Leader at Clyde North. With a deep passion for early childhood education, she was eager to grow and develop her leadership skills. In November 2023, she embraced the opportunity to step into the 2IC position at MacKillop Way, seeing it as a chance to learn even more.

“One of the things I love about Story House is that career growth is not limited to one service. You are encouraged to take on fresh challenges in different locations, which really helped me grow.”

By September 2024, Amanda had taken her biggest step yet as Service Manager at Cheltenham, bringing her experience, leadership, and energy to a whole new team.

Embracing the Service Manager Role

Stepping into a Service Manager role is an exciting milestone, and for Amanda, it came with a mix of emotions.

“When I found out I was moving into the Service Manager role at Cheltenham, I was both excited and a little nervous. It felt like a big step, but I was ready for it because of all the support from my Business Operations Manager. Having helped out at Cheltenham throughout 2024, it made settling in so much easier.”

From day one, Story House provided Amanda with the training, mentorship, and tools she needed to succeed.

“The mentorship from other leaders has been amazing. I have learned from incredible people who shared their experiences and guided me through challenges. Story House made my transition smooth, ensuring I had everything I needed to step confidently into this role.”

What Makes This Role Special?

No two days are the same in early childhood education, and that is exactly what Amanda loves.

“One of the best parts of my role is seeing the positive impact on children, families, and my team. The biggest surprise? How much I have enjoyed moving to a new service. It is refreshing to bring fresh ideas and energy to a different team while still being part of the bigger Story House community.”

Every day brings something new, from helping a nervous educator settle into their role to coming up with creative solutions that improve the service.

Amanda’s career story is proof that at Story House, growth is not just possible. It is something we actively encourage. So what is her best piece of advice for others looking to progress?

“Be open to opportunities, even if they take you outside your comfort zone or into a new service. Career progression is not just about moving up. It is also about moving forward. Story House supports movement between services, which means you can grow and develop in ways you might not expect. If you want to take the next step, ask questions, say yes to challenges, and make the most of the support and training available. You never know where your Story House journey will take you.”

Fun Fact: If Amanda Had a Superpower

If Amanda could have any superpower, she would choose to fly so she could travel the world, explore new places, and taste amazing food along the way.

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? Explore internal opportunities and see where your Story House journey could take you next.

Growing Through Leadership: Teagan

Growing Through Leadership: Teagan

Change can be unexpected, but it can also bring new possibilities. For Teagan Clarke, the transition to Story House Early Learning was an opportunity to grow, learn, and step into leadership in a way she never imagined. Now in her role as 2IC at SHEL Bligh Park, she reflects on her journey, the support she has received, and what she has learned along the way.

Embracing Change and Finding Opportunity

Teagan’s journey with Story House began in an unexpected way—through an acquisition. When her previous provider sold, her service became part of the Story House family. While the change was initially a surprise, it quickly became clear that it was a fortunate turn of events for the team, children, and families.

“The love and care Story House has for their services and all those within them shows. We have so much access to professionals, training, development, and resources that really equip us in ways I have yet to see in other services or employers in my experience in early childhood education so far.” Teagan.

For Teagan, going above and beyond has always come naturally. She progressed into Room Leader roles early in her career and felt most fulfilled when leading and supporting others. Her passion for pedagogy and programming led her to take on the Educational Leader position, where she became part of the Service Leadership Team.

Stepping Into Leadership

When the 2IC role became available, Teagan had already been stepping in to support the Service Manager, Zoe, and found herself naturally taking on many of the responsibilities. Applying for the position felt like the right next step, an opportunity to grow, learn, and contribute in new ways.

“I felt as though they could see my potential, and I was excited to see where this next step would take me. The effort I had put into supporting and learning was being recognised and rewarded.”

Her promotion was met with enthusiasm from her team and the wider centre community. It was a milestone worth celebrating, made even more special when her husband received a promotion in the same week. The couple marked the occasion with an impromptu child-free city staycation in Darling Harbour, where Teagan treated herself to fancy new stationery for her new role, a small but meaningful symbol of the exciting journey ahead.

Support, Growth, and Lifelong Learning

Teagan’s leadership development has been shaped by Story House’s Inspiring Leaders Program, which provided her with regular check-ins, meetings, and unlimited guidance from Amanda, who runs the program. The Support Office team played a crucial role, in answering questions, organising training sessions, and ensuring access to a wide range of professional development courses in the SHEL Library.

Beyond formal training, Teagan has benefited from mentorship and support from a network of early childhood professionals in areas such as pedagogy, behaviour, and compliance. This wealth of expertise has helped her grow in confidence and capability as a leader.

A New Perspective on Leadership

Taking on the 2IC role has given Teagan a broader view of the service and its community. Floating across rooms has allowed her to connect with educators, children, and families in meaningful ways, deepening her understanding of their daily experiences.

Leadership, however, comes with challenges. Moving from leading a small team to overseeing an entire service required her to adjust her approach. Learning how to support, guide, and motivate a diverse team while balancing daily operations has been both demanding and rewarding, strengthening her ability to lead effectively.

Sara’s Leap into Leadership at Gisborne

Sara’s Leap into Leadership at Gisborne

When Story House welcomed the Gisborne service into the team, it marked a significant change for everyone involved. For Sara Blake, who had been with the service since the day it opened, it was the beginning of something new.

Sara had spent nearly a decade working directly with children, forming strong relationships and watching little ones grow and graduate. The transition to Story House was emotional, but she recognised it as a positive step. She said it quickly became clear that Story House was more than just a place of work. It was a place where passionate people came together with shared goals: to support children's development and build meaningful connections.

“Change is never easy for me,” Sara admitted, “but I knew I was ready for a new adventure.”

A New Role, a New Perspective

Now in her 2IC role, Sara finds herself more connected than ever. Instead of supporting one room, she’s engaging across the whole service, working closely with educators and families alike. She credits her Service Manager, Kelly Flynn, for her incredible mentorship and says the Inspiring Leaders program has been a game changer.

Sara explained that being part of a group of aspiring leaders across Australia has created a powerful network of learning. From monthly catchups to daily conversations in their group chat, the program has helped her grow in confidence and leadership.

Mentoring new educators has become one of the most rewarding parts of her role. She feels a strong sense of responsibility in being someone others can turn to, especially those starting out or entering the sector as trainees. “Consistency is everything,” she said, “and I want every educator to feel supported and capable in their role.”

Even the more challenging parts of leadership have become learning moments. Difficult conversations were once daunting, but with the support of short courses on Main Street, Sara now approaches them with clarity and purpose.

Her biggest piece of advice? Take feedback as a gift, not a criticism. Sara sees every piece of feedback as an opportunity to reflect and improve. She believes that when others offer constructive input, it’s because they see your potential.

If she could choose any superpower, Sara says she would love to teleport. With dreams of visiting every continent, she would happily travel the world during her spare time, no plane ticket required.

Carolina's Path from Educator to 2IC

Carolina's Path from Educator to 2IC

At Story House Tarneit, there's a familiar face you'll always see with a warm smile and a big heart. Meet Carolina Pavez, our incredible 2IC. Her journey with us is nothing short of inspiring, and it all began when Story House became the new custodian of her much-loved service.

"I’ve been here for 14 years," Carolina shares. "This place has become a second home to me."

Her two children began their early learning journeys here at just 7 months old and continued until they started school. Many of the educators at Tarneit have worked together for over a decade, creating a strong, supportive environment where people lift each other up through every high and low.

Carolina started with a Certificate III and, with encouragement and trust from her leaders, went on to earn her Diploma, became an Educational Leader, and now proudly stands as a 2IC.

"Story House has given me the chance to step outside my comfort zone. They placed their trust in me as a professional, and that truly means a lot."

With 21 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Carolina knows what it means to be empowered. She has seen firsthand how Story House supports every educator’s growth, offering opportunities that truly make a difference.

She shared that she would not be where she is today without the faith and trust placed in her by the BOMs, Service Managers, and her fellow educators.

To celebrate becoming 2IC, Carolina marked the occasion with a proper Chilean BBQ at home, enjoying good food and great company.

She credits her Service Manager, Nubiane Polat, and previous 2IC, Amy Magoga, for being strong mentors. They encouraged her every day and helped her understand what leadership looks like behind the scenes. With their support, she stepped into a role she had not originally seen herself in.

Owning the Role and Embracing the Unknown

Carolina explained that one of the best parts of her role is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with families, which is something she values deeply. At the same time, she noted that the 2IC role comes with its challenges. It often feels like having 50 mental tabs open at once, with many people needing answers and support. For her, staying on top of it all comes down to effective time management and knowing how to delegate.

When asked what advice she would give to someone considering the role, Carolina encouraged them to jump in. She acknowledged that the unknown can be scary but also said it is filled with exciting learning that helps you grow as a professional.

If she could choose any superpower, Carolina said she would love to read minds. That way, she could support people through their self doubt and, as she joked, have a little fun surprising them with what she already knows.

From Brisbane to Warrnambool: Helena’s Story

At Story House, we know that every journey is different, and Helena’s story is one of courage, growth, and heart.

When Helena moved to Australia in 2018, it was meant to be a short stay. Just 9 months on a student visa to explore, meet the wildlife, and improve her English. But by the end of that journey, she wasn’t ready to leave, and that’s where her early childhood adventure began.

“I looked up careers that would let me stay longer in this amazing country,” she says. “That’s when I found Early Childhood Education.”

Finding Her Place at Story House

While completing her Diploma, Helena’s teacher recommended Story House Windsor for her placement. And from day one, something clicked.

“It really was amazing. I got hired not long after I started, and I stayed at Windsor for 3 years. First as an educator in the toddler room, then as Lead in the Nursery.”

Taking the Leap to Warrnambool

In early 2023, Helena discovered our sponsorship opportunities at Warrnambool. “I already knew Story House and loved it, but moving interstate after nearly 7 years in Brisbane was a big deal,” she admits. The transition wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.

"Moving to Warrnambool allowed me to continue my journey in Australia, and explore a whole new lifestyle. The country vibe here is so relaxed, it’s something I always wanted to try.”

For Helena, the support from the people behind the scenes played a huge role in making her interstate transition easier. She remembers how thoughtful and warm the HR team was, especially Gauri, who stood out for her kindness and patience. The reassurance and flexibility she was given during her relocation made all the difference during what could have been a stressful time.

Life-Changing Impact

Sponsorship has been a pivotal chapter in Helena’s story. It gave her the opportunity to settle into a new part of Australia and try out the relaxed country lifestyle she’d always wanted. Just as importantly, it brought a sense of stability and long-term possibility, offering a secure role and helping her take meaningful steps toward permanent residency. For Helena, the experience has been nothing short of transformative.

Helena knows that making a move like this can feel overwhelming, especially if it involves a big life change. But she would encourage others not to let that hold them back. Through her journey, she discovered the power of new connections, the joy of joining a close-knit community, and the beauty of Warrnambool, a town she now calls home.

Most of all, she’s found a team that feels like a truly special team!

From Spain to Story House and Everything in Between

When Monica left Spain in 2019, she was ready for something new. She chose to go as far as possible to push herself out of her comfort zone, and Australia became her destination. Her plan was to study English for eight months and enjoy a short adventure abroad. But within just a few months of living in Melbourne, she began to feel more comfortable and confident than she ever had back home.

Curious to explore a longer stay, Monica looked into her options. Her agent suggested she apply for another student visa and study Early Childhood Education and Care. This idea excited her, as Monica had already studied it in Spain and saw the chance to learn about the Australian education system as an opportunity for growth. She soon enrolled in a Certificate III and a Diploma course.

Finding connection through work and purpose

When it was time to complete her placement, she found a service close to home. Koala Childcare, which is soon to become Story House Mt Waverley, welcomed her in. As soon as her placement ended, they offered her a casual role, and she accepted with no hesitation. From there, she began to grow as an educator, learning new things every day and becoming more confident in her abilities.

By 2023, Monica was working as a room leader while holding a Graduate visa. She knew that to stay in Australia longer, she needed sponsorship. Her immigration agent suggested the DAMA pathway, which would require her to work at a specific approved location in Victoria. Monica approached Story House to see if it could be an option. Initially, she was told it was not possible yet. But a few months later, she followed up and got the news she had been hoping for. The processes were now in place, and Story House could support her application.

A visa, a new chapter and a place to belong

She was introduced to the immigration lawyers and began the sponsorship process. In February, Monica’s visa was approved. That moment brought a wave of relief. She could stay in Australia. She could continue her journey with the people she had grown to care deeply about. She could keep doing the work she loved in a place that felt like home.

Monica described her journey with gratitude. “I feel relieved and happy that I can continue my journey in the same company,” she said. “It means so much to be able to stay here surrounded by friends and people that I love.”

Her advice to anyone going through the same thing is simple but powerful. She believes that Story House is a place where people care and where real support is given. Even when things got tough, she always felt that her leaders were there for her. They listened, understood, and supported her through every change and challenge.

At Story House, we are proud to be part of Monica’s story. Like so many other educators who bring their passion and whole selves to work every day, she reminds us that when we embrace each other’s journeys, we build something stronger. A place to grow. A place to belong. A place where the pieces really do fit together.

A New Chapter in Australia Through Story House

Lyzi came to Australia in search of something more. She wanted to grow her career in Early Childhood Education while experiencing life in a new country. What she found was not only professional development but also a place that truly embraced who she was. Her journey led her to Story House Early Learning, where support, opportunity and community came together in ways she never expected.

At first, Lyzi was drawn to Australia for its strong reputation in teaching and its rich diversity. She was looking for a workplace that aligned with her passion for nurturing young minds, and it quickly became clear that Story House was that place.

“After researching various organisations, I was impressed by Story House’s commitment to creating a supportive and enriching environment for both children and educators”.

A Turning Point with Visa Sponsorship

Lyzi discovered that Story House could sponsor her visa through a friend and an online job advertisement. It was a life-changing moment. “It meant I could continue my career in Australia without the uncertainty of visa issues,” she explained. The sponsorship opportunity provided something invaluable: stability, peace of mind and the freedom to focus on growing her career.

The support from Story House during the sponsorship process made all the difference. Lyzi described how the HR team guided her through every step of the paperwork, answered questions promptly and made her feel truly supported. It was not just about logistics. It was about feeling seen and valued through the process, which gave her the confidence to keep moving forward.

Growth Beyond the Paperwork

With visa sponsorship in place, Lyzi’s life began to transform. Professionally, she was able to step into her role more fully, take on new responsibilities, and actively contribute to shaping early learning programs. Personally, the sponsorship brought a strong sense of belonging. She was no longer navigating things on her own. She had a team behind her and a meaningful place within the special community at Story House.

Being part of a team that supports every piece of someone’s journey was more than Lyzi expected. Her experience became a reminder of what is possible when a workplace offers more than a job. At Story House, she found genuine care, development opportunities, and a pathway to build a rewarding future in Australia.

For others who are on a similar path, Lyzi has some clear advice. “Actively seek organisations that prioritise employee development and support,” she recommends. Lyzi’s story is just one example of how Story House supports every piece of a person’s journey. From paperwork to personal growth, the support runs deep. And for Lyzi, it made all the difference.

How Kristal’s Referral Brought Ada to Story House

At our Clyde North service, creating a supportive and vibrant culture where educators feel empowered and appreciated is a top priority. Our 2IC, Kristal, made an invaluable addition to the team by recommending Ada, who recently joined as a permanent Educator. This was no ordinary referral, it was a thoughtful decision grounded in Kristal’s insight into Ada's character and potential and her knowledge of the values that define our service.

“I felt that I’ve had enough time to get to know the team and the culture at SHEL Clyde North and felt that Ada would be a great fit. I remembered that she didn’t feel appreciated in her most recent workplace and thought she would align well with SHEL’s core values and appreciate the refreshing change” – Kristal.

Kristal’s understanding of both Ada and the team dynamic was key to making this recommendation. Having spent time working alongside Ada previously, Kristal saw first-hand her qualities as an educator. She recalls. “Ada is very respectful and committed to bettering herself in her professional career. After spending time working alongside her, I felt her friendly and willing attitude would be a great culture fit.”

For Ada, joining the team has been both heartwarming and empowering, sharing her appreciation for Kristal’s recommendation.

“Working with a very professional and supportive team makes for a very exciting opportunity for me to further develop and grow in my career. I’ve learned to trust my team members more and understand that we all have things we’re good at. This has helped me to be confident and contribute to our team by sharing ideas and perspectives.”

Kristal’s thoughtful recommendation and Ada’s dedicated work exemplify the unique and nurturing culture that defines the Clyde North team and the wider SHEL business. We’re thrilled to have Ada join the team, knowing she’ll bring meaningful contributions to the service and the children in her care.

When Sisters Team Up Magic Happens

When Jelly saw an opportunity to bring someone special into the Story House community, she didn’t hesitate. She knew her sister Jenny had something special. Kind, nurturing and passionate about early childhood education. Recommending her wasn’t just about filling a role. It was about adding heart to their team.

“I just knew she’d be perfect,” Jelly shared. “Jenny has this natural connection with children, and she brings so much warmth and creativity. I could already picture her making an impact, and she has.”

And she was right. Jenny quickly became a key part of the team. She built meaningful relationships with the children, connected easily with families and brought fresh energy to their everyday routines. For Jelly, watching her sister thrive confirmed what she already knew. Jenny belonged here.

A Journey Worth Sharing

Jenny says she was excited from the very beginning. Knowing her sister was already working in a place that truly valued people made the decision easy. She felt confident stepping into something new, especially because the support her sister talked about wasn’t just talk. It was real.

She brought her own unique experience and perspective, and quickly found herself in a team that welcomed her with open arms. Jenny’s nurturing approach helped children feel safe and celebrated, while her fresh ideas and calm presence added value to every conversation. “It means so much that Jelly believed in me enough to make that recommendation,” Jenny said.

“Now we get to support each other every day, not just as sisters, but as colleagues.”
